Almost 2 years after being announced, Aka & Blue Type-R (Aka to Blue Type-R in Japanese) is finally out in Japan today! This is the first game released on exA-Arcadia hardware and, unlike NESiCAxLive and All.Net P-ras MULTI titles, the game is not dematerialised and comes on a physical media that is similar to a cartridge. Aka & Blue Type-R is an adaptation of the Aka to Blue smartphone game from Tanoshimasu, a vertical scrolling shooting game released in September 2017. The game title refers to the colors of the two characters (Aka=Red and Blue). Aka uses a flared shot in a burst and Blue uses a more compact and slightly more powerful shot. Many improvements were made compared to the smartphone version. First, the resolution is scaled up from 720p for Aka to Blue to 1080p for Aka & Blue Type-R. Then, the design of enemies, especially bosses, has changed significantly. The enemies animation patterns are doubled and the moves are more complex. The ships have higher details and realistic coloring and the background graphics have been redesigned. The character visuals have also been renewed. The music of Aka to Blue was composed by WASi303, in the arcade version, the BGM includes arrangement versions and new music composed by several artists: Go Sato Band, FANTOM IRIS and O.T.K.. There are also new songs by Go Sato. Voices in the game are the same but a new voice for Blue has been added for the tutorial mode. Aka & Blue Type-R supports both 9:16 and 3:4 vertical screens. The gameplay will change if the ratio is different. In addition, horizontal screen (16:9/4:3) is also supported.

Readers of GamesRadar+ have awarded Yu Suzuki a Lifetime Achievement Award. He received his trophy during the Golden Joysticks Awards 2019 ceremony in London today. Yu Suzuki really deserves his Lifetime Achievement Award when you think about all the arcade games developped under his direction while he was working at Sega: Champion Boxing, Hang-On, Space Harrier, Enduro Racer, OutRun, After Burner, Power Drift, G-LOC - Air Battle, Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter 1 to 4, Fighting Vipers, F355 Challenge 1 and 2, ... Of course, he's also famous among console players for his masterpieces: Shenmue and Shenmue II on Dreamcast. The long awaited release of Shenmue III will happen on PC and PS4 next week. Even if he told that he would like to return to licences such as OutRun and Virtua Fighter, it will depends on Sega's will (for whom he's a consultant) as they own the brands. He however told in an interview that somthing could happen... Once Shenmue III released, we'll be looking forward his next arcade game. You may watch the award ceremony on this video of The Golden Joysticks Awards 2019 (including a praise by Peter Moore).
