AOU and AM Show shows merged into a new show named Japan Amusement Expo 2013 this year. It just ended at Makuhari Messe in Chiba after two busy days. As often with Japanese shows, access was opened to the public on Sunday, the entry price was 1000 Yen and free for children under 12 and seniors over 60 years. The games were in free play and many events took place as the national cranes championship... The editors have come up with many titles, announced some other and broadcasted trailers. Taito introduced Groove Coaster and many NESiCAxLive games: Tottemo E Mahjong, Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX, Crimzon Clover for NESiCAxLive, Do Not Fall, Ikaruga for NESiCAxLive, Chaos Code - New sign of catastrophe. Sega was also very present with many titles: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, Ge-sen Love, Under Night In-Birth, Caladrius, Code of Joker, Under Defeat HD+, Phantom Breaker Another Code, Shining Force Cross Elysion Ver.C, Border Break Union Ver.3.0, maimai, Sega Card Gen MLB 2013, Star Horse 3 Season II - Blaze of Glory (medal) and Starboat Progress (medal). Konami presented a 100% music stand: DanceDance Revolution, Gitadora, beatmania IIDX 20 - Tricoro, jubeat saucer, REFLEC BEAT colette, pop'n music Sunny Park, Dance Evolution Arcade, Sound Voltex Booth II - Infinite Infection and Miraidagakki - Future TomTom. Bandai Namco brought Mario Kart Arcade GP DX and Taiko no Tatsujin March 2013 Edition. Finally, Square Enix unveiled Lord of Vermillion III and Capcom showed Monster Hunter Pugee Race.
Konami releases Gitadora today, this is in fact next installment in the series GuitarFreaks and DrumMania... Cabinets of a similar size than SD versions of XG2 titles are new: however, GuitarFreaks cabinet features only one guitar and the raised stage of DrumMania has disappeared. The difficulty levels have been renamed: Novice becomes Basic, Regular becomes Advance and Expert becomes Extreme. Almost all the songs from past games were re-rating. Other changes include the return of the video background, the scores appear after the end of the song, players can now write their names in Japanese (Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana).
The rumour was launched since January 25, it has now been confirmed by Bandai Namco: there will be a Mario Kart Arcade GP 3! It will be named Mario Kart Arcade Grand Prix DX and a new logo was created for the occasion. The release is scheduled for this Summer and a first version of the game will be presented during the JAEPO show. Two new game modes will be added: the Ghost Battle Mode, an online mode where you can play against ghosts of other players and a Team Co-Op mode in which two players team up against the CPU. They can even merge their kart, a player drives and the other uses the attacks. 10 redesigned races are announced and 100 objects are already available. Updates will added new ones on the future. As a new character, Bandai Namco announced Don Chan, one of the two drummers of Taiko no Tatsujin, a course will have a Taiko No Tatsujin theme. Flying karts and diving karts will also be part of the game!
Shining Force Cross Elysion Ver.C exploitation starts today. New features are minor in this update: a new map, a new quest and especially a new parameter based on the combination of weapons and armors bonus is introduced. Some changes are also worth mentioning: salling price of some items has changed and some weapons and magic effects have been updated.
Mobile Suit Gundam - Senjo no Kizuna REV.3.15 is available today. Two new mechas appear: the RX-78-5 Gundam Unit 5 "G05" coming from Kunio Okawara's MS Collection (M-MSV) original design series used in several anime series and games. It's equipped with 2 x 60mm Vulcan Gun, 2 x Beam Saber, 2 x Hand Beam Gun, Booster Pack (Bst), Hyper Beam Rifle, Hyper Bazooka, Giant Gatling. The second one is the MS-09R-2 Rick Dom II coming from the OAV series Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket released in 1989. It's equipped with Scattering Beam Gun, Heat Saber Type7, Special Equipments and Features, External ejectable propellant tank, 360mm giant bazooka, MMP-80 90mm machine gun, 880mm Raketen bazooka, Sturm Faust.
The next DNA seminar will be held at ExCeL London on January 21 one day prior EAG International 2013 exhibition opening. During this day, many speakers will talk over various topics such as new opportunities in the 3D/4D leisure centers, the development of interactive dark rides and augmented reality application in leisure industry... Among the speakers, the audience will listen to: Randy White from White Hutchinson Leisure and Learning, David Young from BMI Gaming, Adrian Hon from Six to Start, Ernest Yale from Triotech, Paul Collimore from Animalive, Mark Locker from Theme Park Nerd and many others... DNA founder Kevin Williams will welcome the audience at 9:30 with an introductory speech and the work will take place all day until 18:00. The inscriptions are already open here. Registration fee is £99 to £180 (depending on the booking date) and includes admission to the seminar and lunch. Furthermore, refreshments will be offered at the end of the day and participants can relax by playing Hide and Seek's game Searchlight. It is a very physical game where two players co-operate to clear the playing field of a motley collection of wooden balls and blocks without being caught in the moving spotlight.
Bandai Namco Games will have a strong presence at EAG this year with two stands. The largest European distributor will not only present its own products but also those of its partners such as Raw Thrills, Jennison Entertainment and Five Star Redemption. Bandai Namco has announced that seven new products will be launched at the show. Redemption games will be well represented with 5 new machines. Pac-Man mascot will be entitled with a series of 6 games devoted to him, including a new air hockey table which particularity is to be played with dozens of pallets at the same time... The highly anticipated horror game Dark Escape 4D (released in Japan in July) which tests the player's level of fear will also be showcased. Another game that will debut in Europe: SnoCross from Raw Thrills. It's a snowmobiles and sleds racing game on the most extreme tracks around the world. The game features motion seats and HD graphics. Players can share their scores on Facebook with QR codes. Bandai Namco's sales and technical teams will welcome visitors at the stand.
Present at EAG for the first time, Mocap Games will preview a series of technological innovations in entertainment. Mocap Games is part of Animazoo which specializes in animation and motion capture with its Animalive system used for example by Merlin Entertainments, Warner Brothers and Sea Life centers. With Mocap, they start operations in the entertainment industry and theme parks. On the show, they will showcase games where players wear motion capture suits and interact in games such as Sci-shooter and Vertigo. In Sci-shooter, two to six players sit on a pivoting seat and wear a visor displaying the game action, they control a virtual robot with a upper body suit. Vertigo is a rock climbing adventure game. Mocap Games invites operators and players to discover its technology at its booth.
Phantom Breaker Another Code is a 2D fighting game developed by Delta Factory and running on RingEdge 2. It's an arcade port of Phantom Breaker developed by 5pb and released on Xbox 360 on June 2011 in Japan. It should be released during 2013. In this game, a mysterious organization led by Phantom organises a tournament in Tokyo, whose winner will have his wish granted. There are 14 fighters that can use two fight syles: quick style (speed and combos) and hard style (defense). Four buttons are used: SP (burst counter), L (weak attack), M (medium attack), H (strong attack). Phantom Breaker Another Code is on location test until December 24 at Club Sega Akihabara.
Last title of the year released on Taito's NESiCAxLive is Psychic Force 2012 for NESiCAxLive. Psychic Force 2012 is a Taito Wolf System powered 3D fighting game released in arcades in 1998. This title's particularity was to provide air combat in a cubic space between 13 fighters using psychic powers. This new version is a full port of the 1998 version with display optimized for high resolution. The game remains in 4/3 ratio and two sidebands with the character's portrait and movelist have been added.
